The Blackeyed Susans embark on their first national tour in over five years to celebrate the release of their new retrospective 4 disc box set:. Reveal Yourself 1989 – 2009

Lush, dark and romantic, The Susans’ last album, Shangri-La, earned them their second ARIA nomination and had Rolling Stone Magazine declaring them national treasures.

Now they return to the stage with a celebratory show that spans their two decade career (so far) and entire back catalogue, serving both the long time true believers out there and those seeking an introduction to the op-shop stylings the band so beautifully twist into something uniquely their own.

Featuring with The Blackeyed Susans will be pedal steel ace and part-time Susan “Evil” Graham Lee of The Triffids.

TEN THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE BLACKEYED SUSANS (or maybe you do)

The band formed in Perth in the summer of 1989 as a holiday band for members of The Triffids, Chad's Tree and Martha's Vineyard.

2. They've been based in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne and have recorded in London and toured throughout the U.S. and Canada.

3. They've existed for many years with a floating line-up featuring members of The Cruel Sea, The Dirty Three, The Jackson Code, Augie March, The Bad Seeds, Kim Salmon, The Drones and more...

4. Their first gig out of Australia was at The Irving Plaza in New York City with Johnny Cash and Wilco.

5. They once had to lay down their instruments and leave the stage mid-set due to a bomb scare at The Punters Club, Fitzroy... there was no bomb fortunately so they returned to the stage and picked up where they left off. Drinks were on the house.

6. On tour and flying about the country as guests with Paul Kelly their instruments completely vanished for a day, later to be found amongst the equipment of the Sri Lankan cricket side. All their gear was returned safely along with a pole vault. Blame the airline.

7. They've never played in Oslo, they have however played in Launceston on a Monday night.

8. They've released 6 albums and numerous EPs and singles... some in the days of vinyl.

9. One of the band members played a very, very small part in a mini-series alongside Nicole Kidman. He didn't know who she was... it was a very long time ago.

10. Their albums have been nominated for two ARIA awards, their lead singer has won a WAMI for best West Australian male vocalist. Their bass player has been inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame.

The band are releasing the Reveal Yourself 1989 – 2009 retrospective box set through the Liberation Music label on Friday October 30th, 2009. It features hits, rarities, 8 previously unreleased songs, yours and their favourites from across their career to date on 3 audio discs and a DVD. It also includes an extensive and informative booklet. It will be available in all good music stores and from the merchandise desk at The Blackeyed Susans upcoming shows.

In conjunction with this physical box set release, the entire Blackeyed Susans’ album back catalogue will also be available for digital download purchase via Liberation/itunes.
